The Anderson Maple Syrup Family
Norm and Jan Anderson
Norm grew up on the farm where the business is still located today. Norm and his father, Paul, started making syrup for themselves and neighbors. Norm developed Anderson's into a company that now provides syrup to customers nationally. Norm may not be at work everyday but is often there making repairs, bottling syrup or tinkering. Norm married Jan in 1963. Jan cared for their two children Christine and Steve. She also took care of the company's bookkeeping for many years. Norm and Jan are very active in their church and enjoy traveling, car club and their grandchildren. In 2009, Norman was inducted into the Maple Hall of Fame.
Steve grew up surrounded by the maple syrup business and started working for the company full time after graduating from college in the spring of 1997. Steve eventually took over the business with a lot of assistance and encouragement from his dad, Norm. As president of Anderson's, Steve is very involved in all aspects of the business. You'll find him doing just about anything, from changing the light bulbs, to helping customers, making sales calls, and important day to day business decisions. Steve enjoys searching for soda pop collectables, snowmobiling and is active in his church.
Fred has been with Anderson's since 1974. He started out working in the woods tapping trees and cutting firewood, and today, he's in charge of the packaging and delivery of Anderson's products. Fred checks for taste, color, and clarity to ensure that we are always bottling the highest quality product. Fred and his wife Liz enjoy fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.
Brenda started with Anderson's in May of 2007 as the administrative assistant. She handles invoicing, inventory and other administrative duties. When you call or come into the store, it's Brenda who will most likely greet you. Brenda is the mother of five kids who are all very active in school and church. She and her husband David enjoy watching and supporting their kids in all of their activities.
Alison married Steve in 2000 but didn't become involved with the business until recently. She left a teaching career to stay home with their two children and as they have gotten older she has taken a more active role in the business, including writing a maple syrup how-to book. You might find Alison in the store helping customers and filling orders or in the packaging room bottling syrup. Alison enjoys writing, paper crafts and being a mom.
Brian has been with Anderson's since June of 2010 and handles the computer, network, and web site and application design and maintenance. He can also be found doing just about anything else that needs to be done in the warehouse - packaging syrup, palletizing and arranging freight shipments, etc. In his spare time, Brian enjoys hunting and spending time with his wife and two sons.
Jamie started as a part time bottling employee in the summer of 2011, and was hired full time in 2012. JR is heavily involved in the day to day bottling and packaging of our maple syrup. Like Fred, JR too is consistently checking our syrup to ensure that we are always bottling the highest quality product. JR is currently married with 2 children, and enjoys golfing in his spare time.
Rick was hired in December of 2012 to help out in the store selling equipment. That role has expanded to include customer sales calls for larger tubing and evaporator installations, as well as maintaining and fixing things around the plant. Rick is married with 2 kids currently in college. In his spare time, he enjoys running.
Kathy has been working part-time at Anderson's for the past few years. A typical day for Kathy includes, among other things, bottling syrup, labeling plastic jugs, or organizing inventory. In her spare time, Kathy stays busy running the Peterson Autism Foundation, and spending time with her husband Glen and their grandchildren.
